There is something about the sky which has always mesmerized me. Sitting by the lake in the light of the setting sun has always been my favourite place to be. It is mixture of emotions, watching the sun close an old day, and bring a new one, while beautiful, its sad and makes me anxious about tomorrow. Once, when I was by the lake, I watched a simple thing happen. A little boy pulled out his phone and framed the colours of the universe in it. Position.*soft click*. Done. Memory saved.
Thus, began my journey into photography. Armed with only a smartphone as a camera, I often see people look at me quizzically when i tell them I'm doing "photography". They are not to blame. The term conjures up an image of furrowed brows behind glassy DSLR lenses. What people don't know is that that is just one type of photographer.
It's no secret that technology today has advanced and that many filmmakers and photographers have taken to the ease of a smartphone to do what they love. I believe with the right skill and technique, you can still manage to capture a perfect picture, no matter the device.
My hope is that someday, in my journey through photography, I can capture the perfect still with all the life of the moment imbued in it.
